The Queen’s Wing by Jessica Thorne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
When a terrible attack on their royal family make Bel’s father the king, Bel finds herself unexpectedly made a Princess. Part of her duty includes being sent off to marry the King of another planet. She is allowed to take her personal guards with her, the captain of whom is Shae… the man she’s been in love with for as long as she can remember.
Con is recently widowed. He’s the ruler of his world, but he would really rather be an engineer. Bel is bethrothed to him as part of a political alliance.
Bel grapples with court politics, the loss of her personal freedom to fly and fight and her confusion about her growing feelings for Con and her existing feelings for Shae.
The world is impressive and the story gallops along at a great pace.
This is a fantastic space opera with a touch of politics and a cracking love triangle. I sped through it and enjoyed it immensely. I can’t wait to see what Bel gets up to next.
I read an ARC of this book through Netgalley (thank you, Bookouture). I know the author on social media. This is my genuine opinion of the book – you know that.
