My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I read this book because a friend recommended it to me. It is, in short, a very very good book. Well written, tautly plotted, deep, immersive and compelling. It’s a masterpiece in the unreliable narrator. I can see why it made it into the bestseller list.
So, why only four stars? It was the ending that undid it for me. I like psycho killers to be caught and put away at the end. Kudos to Ms Flynn for being brave enough to point out that monsters get away with things all the time. They do. But that’s not what I want to read. It made the ending unsatisfying. I won’t spoil it by revealing the ending, but just be aware that it’s not your tidy ending where everything is resolved. If that doesn’t bother you, then please, go read it. It’s a great thriller.
My thoughts exactly on the book. Loved it until the ending.

It was such a shame the ending wasn’t satisfying. Otherwise it’s a brilliant book.
