Canva Tips for Authors: Make a rotating carousel with your book covers

If you’ve been following the Canva Tips for Authors YouTube channel for a while, you’ll know that I LOVE the Match and Move transition. It’s a glorious little trick that makes it possible to make some really slick looking graphics using Canva. And it’s available on the free tier.

When Canva did it’s upgrade to the Video 2.0 editor, suddenly, ‘match and move’ disappeared. Except it hadn’t. It was just hidden … and you needed some extra steps to find it. In this video, I’ll show you how to find it.

This week I’ve recreated my most popular tutorial – how to make a rotating book carousel – but for the new video editor. You should end up with a nifty little video that is great for showcasing your books – especially if you have a few titles under your belt. I’ve even seen book bloggers use it to showcase what they’ve been reading that month. As a general rule – odd numbers of books work better than even numbers.

As you’ll probably guess from my tone in places, the new video editor and I are not friends. Not only is ‘match and move’ hidden, it’s not as smooth as it was before. I’m sure this will be fixed soon, but for now, it’s annoying. I told myself I should try the new editor for 2 weeks (again) before I switch back to the old version and that’s what I’m doing.

Here’s the video on how to make a rotating carousel in the new editor.

If you’re sticking with the old editor like a sane person, here’s the old video:
